Tom Jeon
Master's Level Counseling Intern
Few of us spend much time with someone whose primary role is careful listening. In everyday life, there’s pressure to explain, justify, defend, or make sense of things while we’re still feeling them. Counseling offers space to slow down, speak freely, and be heard.
Much of our work will follow your lead, though I’ll remain actively engaged. I’ll speak up when clarity would help and remain quiet and curious when it wouldn’t. I won’t rush to reassure, translate, or solve on your behalf. My role is to help you understand the patterns that shape how you relate to yourself, to others, and to the world, and to consider whether those patterns still serve you.
I think becoming yourself is one of the more meaningful things a person can do. It doesn’t always look like arriving somewhere new; more often, it looks like returning to yourself, changed by all you’ve lived through. Along the way, our relationships, families, and cultures help shape the ideas we develop about who we are and why we struggle. It can be worth asking where those ideas came from, what they’ve made possible, and whether they still fit the life you’re living now.
I work with adolescents and adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship challenges, questions of identity and self-worth, and recurring patterns that leave you feeling stuck or disconnected. My approach is person-centered and relational, grounded in respect for each client’s autonomy and agency.
I’m drawn to approaches that recognize how experience is reflected in both mind and body. I’m working toward training in somatic, body-based therapies while deepening my understanding of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Gestalt therapy, and narrative and existential approaches.
A first conversation is a low-pressure way to see whether this feels like the right fit, and I’d be very glad to talk with you.
I am a master’s-level Counseling Intern who has completed all coursework in a CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling program with Bellevue University and is pursuing licensure as a professional counselor in Georgia. I practice under the supervision of Karis Rodila, CPCS, LMFT, LPC. For individual therapy, I work with adolescents and adults ages 16+. For family therapy, I work with adolescents and adults ages 12+.
